This past year I decided to try out the ‘new’ cyber dating phenomenon. Since I am a single mother with a limited income I was drawn to the 'free' sites. Unfortunately, most of the sites that claim they are free, are in reality not. Sure, they allow you to post a profile for free, but if you want to actually communicate with somebody that will cost you. You can look and linger over the 'one' that may be perfect for you but you cannot actually contact that person without cash. The most exasperating site I encountered was eharmony, I went through a million questions to set up my profile .... and then I received matches but I wasn’t able to communicate with anyone unless we were BOTH paid members. Exhausting and frustrating!
Other websites like singlesnet.com allows communication ... as long as one of the parties has paid the price. I put my profile on plentyoffish.com to fish for the man of my dreams. This is actually a totally free dating site. Unfortunately, all I caught were men looking for a quick 'romanic interlude.' Actually I shouldn’t even use the word romantic to describe what they were seeking. I was harassed by men wanting to meet for quickies, speaking disrespectfully to me on instant messenger and finally I just deleted my profile.
As a Christian woman I truly desire to find a wonderful Christian man who would love the Lord alongside me. I found Christiandatingforfree.com, I thought, OK, finally I found a site that will lead to my desired outcome. Unfortunately, I didn’t encounter many true Christ followers -- instead I met men that put the badge of Christianity on, the label on, but not the life on. Most were looking for the same interludes as the men on the secular sites.
